Arnage Red Label

History

Could this Bentley Arnage Red Label possibly be the best one in existence?

Incredibly it has only been driven 3,252 kilometers since it was delivered new in Denmark in 2002 and to describe it in short one could quite simply say that the car is from almost every practical aspect a new car. Not only from a mechanical point of view but also cosmetically - well, even regarding the smell of fine leather!

It should come as no surprice that the original owner had several other vehicles at his disposal, and as a consequence the Arnage was used most sparingly. Wood, paintwork & leather all present fantastically and the classic 6.75 liter V8 is strong and silent. Add to this a rare and tasteful colour and interior combination and you have an Arnage Red Label that is truly stunning.

In essence this is a new car and at the same time a classic beauty.

About the model:

The Bentley Arnage and its Rolls Royce sibling, the Silver Seraph, were the first entirely new designs from the two brands since 1980. The Arnage is over 5.4 metres long and 1.9 metres wide and has a kerb weight of more than 2.5 tonnes. For a brief period, it was the most powerful and fastest four-door car on the market.

For decades, the same 6.75-litre V8 had been used, an engine which could trace its roots back to the 1950s. But the first Arnage was to be given a BMW V8 engine and the Seraph was to be powered by a BMW V12 engine. Both new engines were viewed as somewhat lacking in character, and the classic V8 made a return in 1999, properly updated and named "Red Label".

As part of the modification process the vehicles were given stiffer bodywork, larger wheels and more powerful brakes. The updated engine featured a Garrett turbocharger and produced 835 Nm of torque, the highest figure for any four-door car at that time. With further updates the Arnage remained in production until 2009.
