Z1 Roadster

This very early Z1 (chassis 20 out of 8000 built) was sold from new in Germany and registered for the first time there in April 1989. Shortly thereafter it was exported to England, where its Danish owner used it extremely sparingly and the car has still traveled only 34.005 kilometers.

Tried and tested 325i-technology makes this car suitable both as a summertime roadster and classic sports car - although its mileage indicates that it is equally suitable as a collector's item. The colour Schwarz Metallic suits the car well and is a rarer colour than the red most Z1's were delivered in.

About the model:

The BMW Z1 was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1987. BMW intended this concept car to support both their image and technology, and Z stands for Zukunft – German for future.

The project was planned and realised by BMW Technik GmbH, a division of BMW, and Ulrich Bez and Harm Lagaay were part of the design team. 

The low weight and the advanced suspension made for high cornering speeds and excellent handling, and with the torque of the 2.5-liter straight six from the E30 series the Z1 can be driven as a summer sports car or more casual as a touring cabriolet. The design was and is unique: Z1's signature detail is the doors that disappear into the flanks of the car, and the car can and may legally be driven in this fully open state, giving the ultimate fresh air experience.
