Pool 3

Supercars and racing cars

Vollständig ausgelost

Since 2004, investments in supercars and racing cars have yielded annual returns of 13.4% and 10.7% respectively. In addition, the price development of supercars and racing cars has proven to be relatively robust, with only limited declines and low correlation with other financial assets such as stocks, bonds and property. This makes supercars and racing cars effective assets for investors who want to improve the risk-adjusted return on their portfolio.

The pools do not have a sustainable investment objective, and sustainability risks are not considered relevant. The justification can be found in the sustainability statement.

This pool is fully drawn, and it is therefore no longer possible to become a co-investor in pool 3 with an investment focus on supercars and racing cars. If you want to be the first to be contacted when the next pool is open, contact us below.

Ferrari 126 C2B

It is said that motorsport originated when the second car was built.

In this way, motorsport has a history as long as the car itself – and many of the best stories about cars originate from motorsport. Just as many of the legendary classics have their roots in motorsport.

The spirit of some of the strongest car brands is even directly based on motorsport. This is particularly true for the strongest car brand of all – Ferrari.

Enzo Ferrari himself began his racing career as a driver for Alfa Romeo and later became a team manager before founding the brand in his own name. And from the very beginning, the focus was on making a breakthrough in motorsport.

He succeeded to such an extent that Ferrari immediately became associated with the speed, technology, and prestige that were part of motorsport. And nowhere was there more of it all than at the very top of the hierarchy of motorsport classes: Formula 1.

In this finest, toughest, fastest, and most advanced class, Ferrari has taken a special position: the Italians are not only the only team to have been in every Formula 1 season since 1950 – they are also the most successful Formula 1 team ever. The red racers stand with 242 victories, 16 constructor titles, and 15 world championships firmly at the top of Formula 1’s list of victories.

The first car in pool 3 has contributed to writing that success story: In one of Formula 1’s most turbulent periods in the early eighties, Ferrari’s weapon was the 126C family, which won the constructor titles in both 1982 and 1983. This happened in tough battles on the tracks and in a development race like no other, resulting in some of the wildest cars seen in Formula 1 history.

This is chassis number 65, one of four Ferrari 126 C2Bs built for the start of the 1983 season, where it, with its 650 horsepower, was immediately among the fastest with Frenchman Patrick Tambay behind the wheel.

In its second race, he set pole position, in the fourth race at Imola, Tambay won, and in the model’s final race, the Ferrari team took both pole, fastest lap, and the victory, well on its way to the 1983 constructor title.

The 126C2B thus proved to be one of the most successful Ferrari Formula 1 cars before the Schumacher era, and chassis number 65 played a significant role in writing that history.

Market development in previous pools

Unrealised return of 20%

In the autumn of 2019, Selected Car Investment launched a completely new concept within pool investing, as we became the first company in Denmark to offer pool investment in classic cars. We saw a lot of interest, and our first pool was fully subscribed for the desired DKK 30 million at the end of 2019.

As a result, the kings of the automotive world became the theme of Selected Car Investment’s second pool of classic investment cars. The goal of the second pool was to raise DKK 50 million for an expected portfolio of 3-5 spectacular supercars.

With the first two investment pools, we have achieved an annual unrealised gross return of over 20%!

Low correlation with classic investments

The market for supercars and racing cars has generally shown attractive portfolio characteristics. Returns have been attractive, value developments have not been dependent on ups and downs in the global economy, and correlations with other asset classes such as equities, bonds and property have been low. In addition, unlike other financial assets, cars don’t go bankrupt, can be traded globally, are not denominated in any particular currency, and have inherent value. In other words, supercars and racing cars contribute robustness even to an already well-diversified portfolio.

With our pool investments, we are opening up for an even larger audience to become co-owners of not just one, but several of the world’s most amazing cars. Passion for cars, investing in a lucrative market and socialising in an exclusive setting therefore come together when you invest with us.
