Mercedes Benz

SL 65 AMG Black Series R230

History

The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is the ultimate SL, and in 2009

it was the car with the most powerful AMG engine to date. With its biturbo V12, the car produces a massive 670 hp and 1,000 Nm – 53 hp more than Mercedes-Benz’ supercar, the SLR McLaren, which ‘only’ has an output of 617 hp.

In addition to this fierce engine, the car is 250 kg lighter. This was achieved by select use of carbon bre materials and, on this model, the replacement of the folding roof by a carbon bre roof – all measures to save weight.

Another hallmark of the car is the crazy widening of wing size, increasing track width by 97 mm. This made it possible to t the enormous 325/30-20 tyres necessary to transfer the vehicle’s tremendous power to the asphalt.

Only 350 examples were built and, today, this model is one of AMG’s superior SLs.
