997 Sport Classic

 

The 997 Sport Classic is the rarest serially produced 911/997 ever made! And they were only delivered to the European market. For that reason, it´s now one of only a few cars which is listed on the show and display list, and therefore able to enter the US.

The sport Classic was first shown to the world in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was, as always, with the 911s equipped with an advanced technology, 3,800-cc four-cam, four-valve normally aspirated and direct-injected engine, a “Power Kit” that includes ported and polished combustion chambers, special resonance intake manifolding that helps maintain peak power throughout the rev range, and a re-mapped ECU. As well as a new exhaust system, a Carbon fiber air box, these upgrades resulted in a stunning 408 HP in total. Not to forget the most important part, it was delivered through a 6-speed manual transmission!

With just over 25.000 km covered and delivered new to Germany, And Diligently maintained from new, exclusively by Porsche Centre Frankfurt, the car is ready to be enjoyed by its next proud owner. The car retains its tool kit, tire compressor, medical kit, car cover, and leather documents pouch complete with all its factory books.

The car is one of the earlier cars, being number 41 of just 250 cars in the very limited production run by Porsche.

 

At the time of showing in 2009, Porsche wanted to honor one of their most important cars throughout their history, the 1973 2.7 RS. The idea was great, but the timing was not so great. Europe was in the worst economic crisis they had seen for decades. So, most people didn´t see the over 300.000 premium that was needed to buy the 997 Sport Classic compared to the 997 Carrera S as money well spent at the time.

An exterior detail that is important not to miss on the Sport Classic is the ¨Double Bouble¨ as Zagato famously named the detail back in the days, Porsche branded it as the ¨Double-Dome¨. The body shell is wider by 1.75 inches. Rear quarter panels were borrowed from the Carrera 4. Whilst the car were standing on the very beautiful 19-inch alloy rims, which were custom-built to resemble the iconic classic Fuchs wheels. The rear was fitted with the legendary ducktail to honor the famous 2.7 RS from 1973. All 250 examples were finished in the same rare Porsche color ¨Sport Classic Grey¨

The interior of the 997 Sport Classic is truly one of a kind and often described as one of the most finely detailed interiors seen on a Porsche ever. Finished with Exclusive woven leather seats and door panels, whilst the dashboard is with Espresso Nature natural leather upholstery.

Accompanied by a German registration, Porsche COC, and factory accessories, this Sport Classic would be a crown jewel in every Porsche collection worldwide.
