The Lamborghini Huracán succeeds the Gallardo, Lamborghini’s best-selling model ever. It was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, and sales began in the second quarter of 2014.
Huracán is the Spanish word for hurricane and is pronounced with a silent H. The name is inspired by a Spanish bull, like many other Lamborghini models. Huracán was a bull, particularly notorious for its courage, that fought in the ring in 1879. Huracán was also the Mayan people’s god of wind, storm and fire.
Changes from the Gallardo include full LED lighting, a 12.3-inch, full-colour TFT instrument panel, so that the speedometer and tachometer setup is now shown on the display instead of on standard clocks and indicators.
The cabin features Nappa leather, Alcantara upholstery and a redesigned dashboard. To comply with EU6 emissions regulations, the engine is fitted with Stop & Start technology, which may seem fine in a Polo but is rather odd in a Lamborghini.
The transmission is a Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with 3 modes (STRADA, SPORT and CORSA). The Huracán has 20-inch wheels, carbon-ceramic brake system, optional Lamborghini Dynamic Steering variable steering system and MagneRide electromagnetic damper control.
