With currently 52 kilometers under its wheels this beautiful Miami Blue GT3 is for all intents and purposes a new car. And it is a manual. Yes, that's the one you want!
About the model:
The Porsche 911 GT3 is a high-performance version of the Porsche 911 sports car, primarily intended for racing. It belongs to a line of high-performance models, which began with the 1973 911 Carrera RS. The GT3, introduced in 1999, is named after the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Group GT3 class, in which it was designed to compete.
A number of variations, designed for road and track duty, have been introduced since its launch in 1999, and more than 14,000 cars have been produced.
Porsche unveiled the facelifted 991.2 GT3 at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Extensive changes were made to the engine allowing for a 9,000 rpm redline from the 4.0-litre, flat-six engine. Porsche focused on reducing internal friction to improve throttle response. Compared to the 991.1, the rear spoiler is higher and located further back to be more effective. There is a new front spoiler and changes have been made to the rear suspension. The 991.2 GT3 brought back the choice between a manual transmission and a PDK dual clutch transmission.
Enthusiasts grumbled when the previous Porsche 911 GT3 hit the scene offering only a dual-clutch gearbox. Even though the sequential manual transmission pushed the performance envelope with faster shifts for better lap times, some Porsche enthusiasts still longed for a more involving driving experience that comes with three pedals. In 2018, there is good news for those enthusiasts because the GT3 will once again be offered with a stick shift.
While the racing-derived engine, responsive chassis and big wing mean that the GT3 does its best work on back roads and race tracks, it is rather comfortable when you aren't pushing it hard. Certainly, tyre noise finds its way into the cabin, but the suspension in Normal mode smooths out impacts enough for ride quality suitable for a daily driver.
